Kagadi Hosts Long-Awaited Seyeya Marathon to Promote Greening of Kagadi Town

KAGADI TOWN, 3rd October 2026: Kagadi Town today came alive as residents, leaders, government officials, youth, business community and other stakeholders gathered for the long-awaited Seyeya Marathon, held as part of the ongoing campaign to promote the greening, beautification and environmental conservation of Kagadi Town.
The marathon was organized by Seyeya Courts Hotels in partnership with Kagadi Town Council under the theme of “Running to Green Kagadi”, an initiative aimed at mobilising the community to actively participate in tree planting, environmental conservation, cleanliness and the beautification of the town.
The event attracted enthusiastic participation from different sections of the community, with runners and supporters using the occasion to create awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean, green and environmentally friendly urban centre.
The marathon forms part of a wider greening campaign that has been ongoing in Kagadi Town, with various stakeholders participating in tree planting and other activities aimed at improving the town's environment and appearance.
Speaking during the event, leaders commended Seyeya Courts Hotels for spearheading the initiative and called upon residents to embrace environmental conservation as a collective responsibility.
They emphasized that the greening of Kagadi should not be viewed as a one-day activity, but rather as a continuous community responsibility requiring the involvement of every resident, institution, business entity and stakeholder.
Residents were encouraged to plant and protect trees, maintain cleanliness around their homes and business premises, properly manage waste and support initiatives aimed at improving the town's environment.
Encouragement to the Community
The leaders further encouraged the people of Kagadi to remain committed to the vision of a cleaner, greener and more beautiful town, noting that sustainable development requires collective action.
“Let us not only run for Kagadi today; let us continue to work for Kagadi every day. Every tree planted, every compound kept clean and every public space protected contributes to the kind of town we want to leave for future generations.”
The event also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to working together in promoting agro-tourism, community tourism, environmental conservation and sustainable urban development in Kagadi Town.
Kagadi Town Council appreciates Seyeya Courts Hotels, the leadership of Kagadi District, government officials, youth, community members, businesses and all partners who have contributed to the success of the greening campaign and the Seyeya Marathon.
The Council calls upon all residents to maintain the momentum generated by the marathon by planting more trees, protecting existing trees, keeping Kagadi clean and taking personal responsibility for the environment.
The “Running to Green Kagadi” campaign therefore marks more than a marathon; it represents a shared commitment towards building a cleaner, greener, healthier and more attractive Kagadi Town for present and future generations.
Together, Let Us Run to Green Kagadi! 🌳🏃♂️
